MANCHESTER -- Roberta Thomas Window, 85, died Sept. 8, 2009, surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Lowell, Mass., to Robert and Edna (Harriman) Thomas. She was raised and educated in Greenfield, and graduated from Peterborough High School in 1943 and from the University of New Hampshire in 1947.

In October 1947 she married Wilfred Window in England. They moved to Manchester in 1955 where she became a teacher. She taught fifth grade at Weston School for more than 20 years.

She was a member of the Retired School Teachers Association and the Teachers Bowling League. She also conducted numerous writing workshops for Manchester teachers.

IN HER LIFE:Family members, in addition to her husband of 62 years, include six children, Gail Connarn and her husband, John, of Manchester, Alan Window and his wife, Sheila, of Manchester, Anne Window of Manchester, Beth Fortney and her husband, Edward, of Nashua, Greg Window and his wife, Jackie, of Bedford, and Gary Window and his wife, Judi, of Manchester; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
